If an 8-year-old is refusing to get ready for school, their neglectful parents would not make an effort to push them to go to school. The parent is more focused on what they need to do during the time. If the child is visibly upset and not making the effort to get ready for school, the parent may notice but choose to ignore them and continue with their own tasks.
