Communication Patterns

Through the lens of a scenario:

If the 8-year-old was refusing to get ready, their permissive parent would stop and ask why they did not want to get ready. If the child is upset or distressed, their parents will try to fix their feelings by complying with what they want to do. The parent will attempt to get them ready for school, but if the child persists in not going to school, the parent will eventually give in and allow them to stay home.
