What is neglectful parenting?

A neglectful parent does not make an effort to work with their child (Holden, 2025). They do not recognize their emotions or control their child’s behavior. It is common for parents to reject their children. While they take care of their children, they do not make an effort to form a relationship with their children or engage in much of their lives (Cleveland Clinic, 2025).
